One of our favorite wedding photographers, Hillary Harvey, recently sent us these images from a gloriously sunny wedding in the Catskills town of Roxbury, New York. When Californians Annie O’Rourke and Marcus Taormina decided to marry, they took a grand leap East in order to accommodate their guests coming from New York, New Jersey, and Ireland. In Annie’s words, “The town of Roxbury seemed the perfect weekend getaway, and we loved the idea of having our venue, Stone Tavern Farm, to ourselves for the whole weekend as opposed to just a few hours. It meant our guests could really have time to relax.”
The bride continues, “Adding personal touches was important to us. For our ceremony, we performed an Irish coin tradition using the my family’s antique coins, my mother played the flute, and we were married under an arbor built by the Marcus’s father.”
DIY projects included designing the lighting in the reception barn, like an Edison bulb light fixture over the dancefloor and wine-cork chandeliers over the bar. Escort cards were made from vintage projector slides, table numbers from recovered fence spires, and pennants from the guests’ RSVP cards.
Here are images of some of the most delightful details. In a setting this rustically atmospheric, the simplest table settings and straightforward garden flowers work beautifully.
