Cap Juluca's Jonquil Suite

Cap Juluca’s Jonquil Suite

Last year, when we put together a list of our favorite Caribbean destination wedding hotels, Anguilla’s Cap Juluca was among them. As we noted, its beach and its service are among the best in the region, attracting such A-listers as Brad Pitt, Bill Gates, and Caroline Kennedy to its Morocco-meets-Mykonos villas. Since we last visited, the ultra-upscale resort has gotten even more extraordinary, with a $20 million refurbishing and a new VIP villa called the Jonquil Suite (pictured, above), which would be perfect as the venue for a very intimate, very luxurious destination wedding.

The 3,290 square foot beachfront suite, which has already proven popular with deep-pocketed moguls and sports figures, has two master bedrooms and an infinity pool, as well as an ocean-front dining terrace and a poolside lawn, either of which would do very nicely as places to say, “I do,” as well as “Oh my.” If you want a private wedding during which a few dozen guests are treated like royalty, far from the public eye, you can probably stop looking.

Among the recent changes to Cap Juluca, all guests rooms have been refurbished, and the Spice Lounge, Maundays Bar, and Blue, the open-air restaurant, have all been updated. But we were glad to see, too, that despite all that’s new, one thing that hasn’t changed is the resort’s wedding planner, Verma Rogers, who has been there 23 years, and knows how to do weddings right.
