This season, I’m falling for gowns that have the three Es: A dreamy, ETHEREAL quality. Utter ELEGANCE. And EXQUISITE details. These sheer illusion and lace gowns are some of the most enchanting choices in the salons right now; each would be ideal for a very specific destination wedding.

The draping, boning and ultra-unique lace (honest, I’ve never seen anything like it!) make Monique Lhuillier’s Joelle gown beyond special. I’m obsessed with the structured bodice that leads into an airy, flowing skirt with a subtly sexy slit. The movement of the skirt would be stunning in an outdoor, breezy setting–a terrace in the Greek isles, perhaps?

Christos’ tulle and lace dress  (it’s called Phoebe) beams elegance. The whimsical lace cap sleeves and the featherweight sheer illusion décolletage take this simple gown to a simply beautiful height. A tad traditional in feel, it would be lovely for garden nuptials—I’m thinking of a Charleston plantation or a bower of roses in New England.

The juxtaposition of the delicate, feminine top with the dramatic pleated organza rosette skirt is what makes this Vera Wang dress so outstanding. Perfect for displaying an hourglass figure, this super-sexy frock would look outstanding in a city setting (a contemporary museum in Chicago?) on a bride determined to make a bold entrance.  –Sarah Leingang
