If the House of Newlyweds atmosphere of the typical Sandals resort is not your style, how about a destination wedding at Butch Stewart’s house?

Stewart, founder and chairman of Sandals all-inclusive resorts, is a Jamaican who over the years has owned several homes on his native island. They are places, he says, that have “served as the backdrop for many unforgettable moments with my family.” Now three of them, ranging in size from five to nine bedrooms, are places you can rent for your own unforgettable family moment – your wedding.

It would be hard to find a more idyllic setting for a destination wedding in the tropics than on the grounds of Rio Chico

Our favorite, because it’s in a laid-back Jamaican neighborhood, is Sundown Villa, in Discovery Bay. It doesn’t hurt, either, that there’s 125 feet of private beach and a full time staff,  including a personal chef. The rooms are split between the original five-bedroom house and a new four-bedroom guesthouse, so with a little maneuvering you can have your own space when you need it.

When it comes to beauty, though, it’s hard to beat Rio Chico Private Estate, eight rooms on 14 acres sitting atop a cliff so close to Dunn’s River Falls that you can say “I do” to the sound of tumbling water.  And that other water you’re looking out at? The Caribbean.

And for a true all-to-yourselves wedding venue, there’s the five-bedroom Lime-Acre Villa, on the quiet South Coast, where your guests’ activities can include picking tropical fruit from the villa’s own trees. Fresh lime anyone? — Bob Payne
