The basics

At the northern edge of Napa, near the hot-springs-and-mud-baths mecca of Calistoga, the Solage Calistoga puts a hip gloss on what is a truly family-friendly resort. So although there’s all sorts of Gen-Next coolness (electric car charging, cruiser bikes, a chef who blogs about black kale and chiang mai sausage steam buns), you can invite the whole clan, kids and all.

Wedding details

There are a couple of venues: Soltice, the larger, is a big barn-like structure with multiple terraces, a courtyard, and a lawn with glorious views of the Palisades Mountains. Spectera, the smaller, has its own event lawn, glass doors leading to a private terrace, and room for 50 very special guests.  At either, anticipate savory seasonal fare like peaches with prosciutto and thyme risotto and that’s earned its chef a Michelin star. The Solage has an on-site coordinator, but you’ll also need to bring in your own planner to deal with details like musicians and décor.

Getting there

It will take about two hours to get here from the San Francisco airport. Once you arrive, you can use bikes to get into town.

Keep in mind

After the ceremony, the bike that comes with your room will have been fitted with a “Just Married” license plate—don’t miss the photo op. Also, to some eyes the crisp post-and-beam architecture may appear a bit understated—and that’s the point.
