Miami, America’s heartbeat of cool, has its share of eye-popping hotels lining its famous beach. But if you can tear your eyes away from the ocean, it would hard to find a more swellegant spot for a wedding than the Viceroy, a 50-story boutique hotel in the financial district.
If the neighborhood doesn’t scream “wedding,” the facilities certainly do, particularly the Fireplace Terrace. This outdoor living room spraws over two 15th-floor acres and features the longest infinity pool in Florida, a hot tub that seats 50, a life-size chess set, and 200 chaise lounges. The main attraction for wedding parties is the poolside bar with its mammoth fireplace, mosaic-tile “rug,” and what has to be the slickest feasting table anywhere. Forty feet long, it seats 20 privileged guests who can dine under the stars, then wander off to the 12 cabanas.
Smack on Biscayne Bay, the four-year-old hotel is the collaborative effort of ultramod Arquitectonica and Kelly Wearstler, the country’s hottest interior designer. And it shows, in everything from the hot-pink “throne” beside the elevators to the guest rooms’ coffee bars, which allow you to brew your own espresso. Speaking of accommodations, these are some of the sweetest room rates in Miami; in summer, you can snag a double for less than $200.
And what that means is you’ll have to think very, very carefully before sending out invites to a reception at that 20-person feasting table. Because honestly, who could say no?
