Lakeside wedding at The McCormick Scottsdale

Lakeside ceremony at The McCormick Scottsdale

You wouldn’t think that a smart-looking hotel set in Scottsdale’s most prestigious neighborhood would be within the reach of real-people wedding budgets. But during a recent visit to The McCormick Scottsdale, we were delighted to discover what might be the best bridal bargain in the state.

We’ll get right to the details. For the ceremony, the lakeside lawn is outfitted with a simple archway that’s yours to decorate. While you prep in the nearby bride’s room, your guests are welcomed with a water station (they’ll be grateful, under that Arizona sun) and seated in simple white garden chairs. There’s a sound system for your music, plus indoor space if the weather goes south (unlikely, but still….). After the ceremony, you’ll walk to the nearby outdoor terrace for a champagne toast and passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by a two-course seated dinner and cake.

The cost of the whole shebang starts at $12,000 for 100 guests on a Saturday evening, including the ceremony site and 3 course meal with 3 hour hosted bar; subtract $500 if you want to marry on a Friday or Sunday.

Of course there are plenty of add-ons, if you like.  Arrange a swarm of heat lamps on the terrace and use the space for your after-party. Festoon the ballroom with flowers, or drape it with tulle and twinkle lights. Treat everyone to a lavish candy buffet.

Or keep it simple and sweet, and save that cash for your dream home.
