If you really, really, REALLY love the beach, this is the wedding reception for you: At the Lido Beach Resort, towering over a wide stretch of Lido Key shoreline near Sarasota, you can follow your vows with a small dinner on the sand. Make that in the sand. Team Sandtastic, a world championship-winning sand-sculpting crew that’s wielded their shovels for audiences from Australia to the Middle East, will create a dining table that seats eight using nothing more than fine white granules from this Gulf beach—and plenty of saltwater. After the seats and table have been tamped securely into place—and the latter covered with linen and set with silver and stemware—you’ll be served a five-course meal, with tiki torches providing appropriate lighting. It will cost you $250 a person, plus a $1,500 to $2,000 beach fee for the sand sculpture. Outrageous? That would be a “yes.” Unforgettable? Most definitely.
