Twilight at the Delano pool
The hotel that first brought Miami Beach back into the land of cool, The Delano still has plenty of style up its sleeve, with Philippe Starck’s white-on-white design almost as surprising and surreal as when he first placed furniture directly in the swimming pool almost 20 years ago.
Weddings here are small and hip, whether they take place on the terrace overlooking The Orchard’s oversize chessboard or beside the pool at the Beach Club, with direct access to Miami’s famous swathe of sand. But for our money, The Delano, which really puts on its party face when the sun goes down, makes an even better bachelorette setting.
You and your crew can swill champagne on a shaded daybed by the infinity pool while the DJ cranks up the tunes. Or head into the subterranean dance club, FDR, where a VIP entrance and bottle service will guarantee discreet glances from the hoi polloi. Or spring for a prix-fixe sushi-and-sake dinner at Umi, where you can feast and still stay true to that pre-wedding diet.
Oh, and leave the pink wig and feather boas at home. You people are so much cooler than that.
