Atlantis beachside wedding chapel under construction.

New Atlantis wedding chapel in early stage of construction.

Atlantis Paradise Island the 2,300-room Bahamian mega-resort, has no shortage of wedding ceremony and reception venues. There are close to two dozen, from antiquey columns near Cove Beach to a subterranean space with views of prowling sharks.

What they haven’t had, though, is a venue dedicated only to weddings. That’s about to change, as a non-denominational chapel with an atrium, deck, and event lawn, is nearing completion on Paradise Beach. All that’s lacking is a name. And that’s where you can help.

“We put out a call on our own facebook page, and got a good response, but haven’t come up with just the right choice,” said Anna Schmid, the resort’s VP of Weddings and Special Affairs.

So Schmid said she’s happy to let Destination:W readers try their hand. There’s no prize, such as the all-expenses-paid week at the resort we were hoping for, or even an invitation to experience the Leap of Faith, the resort’s nearly-vertical 60-foot high water slide we think every Atlantis bride should try before beginning her own wildly exciting journey.

Should the name you submit be chosen, you will, however, have the satisfaction of being able to show the wedding world that you are just as creative as you’ve always known yourself to be.

One hint: The Atlantis team said they are looking for a romantic name as opposed to something overtly religious, which is no doubt why they rejected our first suggestion, “God’s Own Holy Chapel and Beach Bar.”

Send along your suggestions and we’ll see that they get to the Atlantis team right away. And in the meantime, check out that water slide.
