We love gorgeous wedding flowers. And we love a good story about a career change. So when we heard about Josette Brose-Eichar, a former art student who spent 17 years in the banking biz before deciding to embrace her love of design and nature, we had to get in touch. Josette is the owner and designer at Lavender Country Garden Florals, in Sonoma, and she combines an artist’s eye with a great respect for nature with an understanding of how to run a business. (Translation: This florist is no flake.)
Josette doesn’t just talk the talk about earth-friendly flowers, she’s the real deal. Here’s how you can tell:
She avoids using floral foam (it never breaks down and is lousy for the environment) and takes a serious approach to recycling and composting. She’s got a large inventory of rental equipment, including vases and props that can be used again and again and are ideal for destination weddings. She offers the option to go “locavore”—your entire wedding can be created using locally and sustainable grown flowers and natural materials. Josette says it’s the perfect option for a bride who isn’t concerned with must-have flowers and colors, and who wants to use what is available right now from her local, organic growers.
Take a look at some of her creations. If you hadn’t been thinking of a wine country wedding already, this may just send you over the edge.
