What girl doesn’t want to look radiant on her wedding day? That’s particularly true at a destination wedding, when you’re wearing natural-looking makeup and your skin is really on display. We asked DDF Skincare founder and leading NYC dermatologist (and, by the way, the derm who cured my acne when I was a teenager) Dr. Howard Sobel for his tips on getting amazing, glowing skin before the big day. Here are his fab tips and product recos to jumpstart the glow.

1. EXFOLIATE CORRECTLY: When you don’t exfoliate, dead skin cells will stay on the surface of the skin, clogging pores and creating a dull, uneven skin appearance. I recommend the Revolve 400X Micro-Polishing System ($98), which polishes away surface imperfections and instantly improve skin clarity.

2. PICK THE RIGHT INGREDIENTS: Many hyperpigmentation and brightening products contain hydroquinone, but it can be too strong for some clients and many are allergic to it. I recommend products with Niacinimide and Glycerin. My new  Discoloration Reversal Moisturizer ($64) is gentle on the skin, yet extremely effective in reducing the look of melanin build-up and discoloration.

3. TIME OF DAY MATTERS: Research has shown that skin is more receptive to topical cosmetic treatments at night. That’s when your skincare products are most effective.

4. PROTECT, PROTECT, PROTECT: The only way to protect against future discoloration is to wear sunscreen every single day. Choose a sunscreen that offers both UVA/UVB protection, such as DDF’s Protect and Correct UV Moisturizer SPF 15 ($64). It shields both the outer and deeper skin layers from damaging rays that lead to discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles.
