Paradise Beach, Nevis

Ideal wedding party headquarters at Paradise Beach Nevis

For couples who’ve been eyeing the Caribbean island of Nevis as a potential wedding spot, there’s a new game in town. Paradise Beach Nevis, a boutique villa resort, has just opened its doors on the island’s talcum shores—Nevis’s only villa compound directly on the sand. That means you can revel in total privacy and exquisite service on the kind of wave-lapped coast usually reserved for busy, sprawling resorts.

There are seven three- and four-bedroom villas; rent one if you’re having a tiny wedding or elopement; book all if you’re hosting several dozen guests. The villas have been decorated in Bali-meets-the-West-Indies style by designer Adam Tehani, with hand-woven thatched roofs, 20-foot ceilings, and plenty of polished wood. Each has an outdoor dining pavilion (wedding-day mimosas with the girls?) and a waterfall pool overlooking the Caribbean.

While the official opening isn’t until January, if you want to do a pre-wedding site tour, hustle down this month when villa rates are an unheard-of $1,000 a night. Which means you can tote along a few members of the wedding party—or your parents, perhaps—to check out the facilities. Call the Paradise Beach directly for all the details; 869-469-7900.

Speaking of details, there’s a basic wedding package that costs $1,500 and includes all the official paperwork (you’ll be escorted to St. Kitts to snag your license), the services of a Justice of the Peace, a decorated arbor on the beach, flowers, champagne, and West Indian wedding cake. And if you’re inviting friends and family to celebrate with you, your on-site wedding planner will be delighted to help arrange a buffet dinner, photographer, or whatever strikes your fancy. A wedding-morning massage? A steel pan musician for the cocktail hour? A private chef who’ll create a custom menu for dinner under the stars? Done, done, and—most definitely—done.
