Islands are what dreams of destination weddings are often made of.
A new study asked wealthy Boomers (your parents) to name their favorite islands; the places Mom and Dad (or Mom and Mom or Dad and Stepmom or whatev) would love to head once you are married and out the door.
It made us wonder how different their tastes are from yours. Is there a fantasy island generation gap? Are the places they dream of slipping into their sandals the same islands that would appeal to you for a destination wedding?
To find out, we thought we’d share the results of the Boomer study with you, and then have you tell us what islands rate high in your imagining of the perfect destination wedding.
The study was a collaborative effort between two organizations — the Resonance Consultancy and the Luxury Institute – (we’d never heard of them, either) and it ranked island destinations into two categories: those that luxury travelers have visited the most, and those that luxury travelers would most like to visit.
The five most visited (and the ones we are guessing where as a child you may have spent a family vacation or two):

4. Virgin Islands
5. St. Maarten
The five that luxury travelers most want to visit:
1. Turks & Caicos
2. Aruba
3. Virgin Islands
4. Cayman Islands
5. Bermuda
